Location: Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Austin, TX
The Meander (River and Information Gauging Station) serves as a community resource, fostering engagement with the ecological, historical, and recreational narratives of Texas’ Colorado River. Inspired by the river’s sinuous yet stunted meanders, the stepped design reflects the human interventions that have shaped its modern course. The kiosk is sited near the point where  Barton Creek flows into the Colorado River at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. Designed to activate this space at night, the installation encourages active participation, inviting vistors to contribtute visuals, objects, and writings about the river.

The installation was also used to develop and kick off a research project, visiting and studying the Colorado River from source to mouth, with a focus on the 22 infrastructure innervations along its course. This physical location encourages active participation, inviting visitors to explore, contribute, and interpret curated visuals, objects, and writings.
